안녕하세요, UC Berkeley 대학원 한인 학생회 (KGSA) 회장 김명석 입니다.
벌써 11월이 거의 마무리 되고 12월이 다가오고 있는 와중, 찾아온 고마운 Thanksgiving 연휴들을 다들 즐겁게 잘 보내셨나요? 바쁜 학기 중 여러가지 학업과 일들로 지칠 수 있었던 몸과 마음들을 잘 재충전하고 활력을 갖는 시간이 되셨기를 바랍니다 : )
이번에 KGSA에서 UC Berkeley에 소속된 VHIO (Volunteer Health Interpreters Organization) 라는 교내학생봉사단체와 의료 무료 통역 서비스 파트너쉽을 체결하게 되었고 이를 알려드리고자 메일 드리게 되었습니다. - VHIO 단체 링크 : calvhio.org
(상세) --
(1) 목적.
버클리에 재학 중인 국제 학생들의 진단,치료 등 의료 활동 전반에 있어 언어의 어려움을 돕기 위해 형성된 학생들로 구성된 봉사 단체이며, 통역 서비스를 받기 위한 간단한 overview 및 주의사항을 아래에 정리해 두었습니다.
(2) (Overview) 통역 신청 guideline 및 주의 사항 (VHIO 홈페이지calvhio.org에서 더 자세한 내용을 보실 수 있습니다)
A brief overview of our guidelines:
- Our services include 1) written or typed document translation, and 2) in-person or virtual verbal interpretation.
- If possible, please notify us two weeks in advance when requesting interpretation or translation.
- For translations, please provide the document in an editable format (e.g. Word Doc, Google Doc).
- For interpretation events, our volunteers usually interpret between a patient and a healthcare professional, or between a patient and a staff member of your organization.
- (주의사항) Our volunteers are not trained to provide any type of independent consultation to patients. That is to say, our volunteers are strictly interpreters only.
When requesting any interpretation or translation, we ask that you kindly adhere to the above guidelines. Please let me know if you foresee any issues with the current guidelines.
