Dear Webmaster,
Greetings from the Pohang University of Science and Technology, POSTECH.
This is to make initial contact with you and your organization in the hopes of
fostering relationships to the benefit of the world Korean scientific community
at large.
We are a research oriented university, located in Pohang, Korea. We are
highly regarded in the Asian academic community: The Best Research and
Engineering University in Asia -- Asiaweek Magazine (Hong Kong).
To give you a little background, POSTECH was initially founded and endowed
by the Pohang Iron and Steel Company, POSCO, -- currently the biggest iron
and steel company in the world. POSTECH selects only the top 300 high school
graduates in the country. POSTECH has the only synchrotron radiation source
in Korea.
We are currently offering scholarship packages to Korean-American students
of science and engineering. This would be a great opportunity for Korean-
American students to visit Korea while working on a research project. As
POSTECH has agreements with leading institutions in America, the work
performed at POSTECH would be accredited by the students' home university.
The time-length would be six months to a year.
We feel that this would be great opportunity for those Korean-American students
interested in coming to Korea and learn about their heritage, all the while earning
credits at their home university.
I would like to explain this program in more detail with you and would appreciate
any information and advice you could provide regarding Korean-American students
at Berkeley and America. I look forward to your response, and remain,
Sincerely yours,
